Research In Motion (RIM) has shown its commitment to security and third party accreditation through submitting its Blackberry 7 Operating System for Common Criteria evaluation. The operating system earned a certification of EAL4+, the highest security level available for Blackberry phones.

The popular mobile device operating system earned an accredited certification for assurance level EAL4+, which is the highest level of accreditation under the Common Criteria Recognition Arrangement (CCRA).

The Common Criteria Recognition Arrangement is the representation of an international standard for validating that products meet a certain set of security requirements.
